The 2021 China Universities Debating Championship (CUDC) was held on September 11-12 at Tencent Conference platform. Two debaters, Shi Zehan from Chinese Department of College of Liberal Arts and Chen Xuefei from Department of International Trade and Economy of Business School,participated in this championship under the leadership of Collin Steward Tham, a lecturer from English Language Center. After 8 rounds of fierce competitions with top universities like Peking University and Beijing Foreign Studies University, STU debating team won the first prize and advanced to the top 8 in China, and Shi Zehan was awarded the title of “Best Speaker”.

TheCUDC is sponsored by CATTI (China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters) Project Management Center and supervised by the China National Committee for Translation & Interpreting Education. The championship aims to develop international talents through students’ discussion on the latest international issues and diversified cultures.
