Course Description

The ELC provides an integrated skills program, normally consisting of four semesters, through which students build English skills and key academic skills such as critical thinking skills and intercultural competence. While Levels 1 and 2 of the ELC take an entirely integrated skills approach, Levels 3 and 4 take a slightly more specialized format (i.e., intercultural communication and critical thinking, respectively) but retain the focus on integrated skills.

Aside from the four basic levels of the ELC program, a variety of specialized courses give students the opportunity to build either specific aspects of their English skills (e.g., academic writing, speech making, debate, translation, and so forth) or English skills for specific academic and professional fields (e.g., Global Law English, English through Art).
