On June 10, 2023, “FLTRP·ETIC CUP” English Debating Competition· National was held online.

Gong Kuiyuan (19 Finance) and Chen Zipeng (21 English), along with their coach Collin Tham from ELC participated in the competition on behalf of Shantou university. They competed with 148 universities, including prestigious institutions such as Peking University, Fudan University and Shanghai International Studies University. After eight rounds of fierce competition, debaters Gong Kuiyuan (19 Finance) and Chen Zipeng (21 English) won the national second prize, a remarkable achievement that attests to their remarkable skills and quality education provided by Shantou University.
