Val Palmer Lecturer

Varlene Palmer, also known as Val, is a lecturer at the English Language Center of Shantou University.

Before this, she taught English as a first and second language in various face-to-face and online distant learning courses in higher education, secondary education, to naval and air forces, and to business professionals in the Caribbean, Latin America, and Europe. She prides herself on an interactive, fun, and cohesive language learning experience.

Val holds a Masters in TESOL from the University of Nottingham, UK. Her research has focused on the Latin American context, language teaching management, and teacher development. She is also a proud sponsor of the Adult Literacy Tutors’ Association in Trinidad and Tobago.

Maintaining a good work-life balance, Val often engages in art, photography and water sports such as swimming, sailing, and kayaking.
