Calvin Hau graduated from Calvin College with an Interdisciplinary Degree in Chinese, Japanese and History. While carrying out his university studies, hetaught classes in the four main English skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening) to impoverished students. He also had the opportunity to present topics pertaining to China/Chinese culture to international students at Guizhou Forerunner College, a vocational school in Guizhou, China.
Realizing that he could make teaching his career, in 2015 Calvin went to Trinity Western University, in the Vancouver area, to begin earning his MA in TESOL. During that time, he completed an internship at Handong Global University, South Korea, where he taught a class of English Pre-Course students. He also taught English Reading and Writing classes and Foreign Culture courses to South Korean high school students at Chungnam Samsung Academy. There, he guided students in group work and projects, which helped improve their communicative abilities. He expanded upon his Korean teaching experience through working at As Home Language Cafe, helping adult students improve their oral English abilities through forming bonds with instructors.
Calvin enjoys watching/playing sports (especially football/soccer), doing martial arts, watching movies, occasionally writing poetry, listening to music and meeting new people. He looks to help students improve their communicative abilities for diverse situations.
