With a background in chemistry from Williams College, I did research in reproductive immunology and clinical psychiatry at Dartmouth Medical College followed by employment developing analytical methods for a pharmaceutical company, specializing in gas chromatography and HPLC. It was during this time that I travelled and trained other chemists worldwide and began teaching English as part of this position. My love for this aspect of my job grew and I eventually chose to teach English full time. Interest in the Far East inspired my choice to come to China. Spare time is filled with hobbies -- reading, Asian art, gardening, and traveling. Current research interests include a longitudinal vocabulary learning and independent language learning project.
